YMCA Worcester

Stay safe

Providing a safe environment for local homeless and vulnerable people is our primary function - nothing matters more to us.

YMCA Worcester offers accommodation for 74 homeless local young people and vulnerable adults, with 28 rooms in our Foyer provision and 46 rooms in our Hostel accommodation.

These rooms are more than just a safe place to stay...

Our Foyer service is an integrated learning and accommodation centre providing safe and secure housing, support and training and is designed to address your needs and aspirations.

If you need to apply for Foyer accommodation you must be aged 16 to 25 years old and be homeless or in urgent need of somewhere to live.

You will have an interview and if this is the right place for you we will offer you a room as soon as one is available. Once you’re here, a qualified Development Worker will work with you to help you focus on your needs, put a Personal Development Plan together that addresses your specific needs and start you on your journey to independence and a more positive future.

Our Hostel service provides a safe and supportive environment to enable vulnerable adults to move from a chaotic and often dependent lifestyle to independent living with the confidence to engage in education, training and employment.

We can help you with:

  • Practical workshops to develop a range of life skills such as DIY, cleaning, food hygiene, money management and budgeting.
  • Learning Power programme to understand where you are now, where you want to be, how you’re going to get there and any barriers to achieving your goals.
  • Job Club support with CV writing, job search and interview techniques.
  • Vocational Training to help you learn new skills and find work experience you’ll love.
  • On-site Counselling to come to terms with emotional issues which may be worrying you.
  • Activities to engage with individuals and other local social groups including gardening, car washing, sport and community events.
  • Finding move-on accommodation through the ‘Choice Based Lettings’ programme.
WHO WE ARE... Ninety-nine young people in South Worcestershire were referred as homeless in May and June 2009 through the 'Bubble Project'. Bubble is a single signposting service for young people who are worried about being homeless. In 2009, 71% of the people we helped in our Foyer programme and 56% of those in our Hostel have moved on to independent living successfully.  bubble-logo.gif
